Quick & Easy Business Financing through Small Business Loans

Introduction
LNDDO is the pioneer of digital lending for SMEs in MENA. They want to provide SMEs with an opportunity to achieve their business aspirations by facilitating easy access to working capital finance. Timely access to business finance makes all the difference to an enterprise’s growth journey.

Scope of Work

Design LNDDO pilot app design with three main elements: Onboarding, KYC, & Lending.Our project deliverables were as follows:
  • Visual Design
  • Prioritizing features (MVP)
  • UX Writing and Microcopy
  • Visual Identity Exploration (Style Guide based on current branding)
  • UX + UI Strategy / Solution

The Challenge

Launch an MVP in UAE in 3-4 months

Design Goals

  • Design a clear and concise Onboarding Process
  • Design for a responsive progressive web app to be able to launch in time
  • Create an easy, intuitive flow to apply for a loan

Surveys and Competitive Comparative Analysis

We performed our research through our surveys and competitive comparative analysis. We conducted online surveys to understand more about the target market for MVP.

Results:
  • 85% said they do take a loan once in 5months. So that means there are many users applying for loans frequently.
  • Over 60% of the people said they are worried about high-interest rates. This maybe can be addressed by building a marketplace for loans to get competitive rates.
  • 55% users depend on offline channels for taking loans.
The research made it evident how different users would use the app differently.

User Personas

Based on the online user research conducted, we set up two personas. I referred to them throughout the entire product development process.
  • Each persona had a scenario that identified a realistic goal the user might have when interacting with the app
  • The information about each persona focused on its goals and frustrations with the product as well as their interaction with it, which drastically affected my design choices.
  • This process has significantly influenced the development of important design decisions

Next up - User Journey

This user journey for Yasser is based on the lending process on LNDDO’s existing lending website. Although this specific user journey is for him, we found that the first three low points were actually common low points shared by all three personas. These were valid concerns we should address in our app, such as being able to give loan recommendations to the user.

LoFi Mockups

Started with sketching ideas on paper to find what works and what doesn’t before proceeding to program design. I created wireframes for testing purposes and made a list of screens to design in to cover all scenarios and detail the flows.

The MVP is relatively manageable hence all flows were made in high-fidelity mock ups in Figma.

Key takeaways

After a few more iterations, I designed the final screens. My aim was to deliver a clean, minimalistic, modern look that helps would-be business owners fulfill their goals quickly.
